After an unforgettable time at La Tomatina we were joined by Erlira and Tim to begin our journey north to San Sebastian. To our surprise it was more cost efficient to rent a car from Valencia instead of taking public transportation. After one last plate of paella we began the 8 hour journey. Six hours into the trip and far from civilization, we decided to set camp in the dark. We found a small dirt road, drove to the end and set camp. We awoke to the strange noise of bells sporadically ringing in the distance. We eagerly unzipped the tent and noticed that we were surrounded by horses with bells tied around their necks.
After a quick look around we realized that we couldn’t have picked a better spot. We were surrounded by beautiful mountains and fields. After playing with the horses and packing up, we went into the small town of Iruntzun for a great breakfast. As we were walking to the car to continue our journey, we were stopped by a man who suggested that we hike the near by mountain. This suggestion ended up being a highlight of the road trip, what a view!
